This Sunday evening the CBS network will show their investigation special “How Online Gamblers Unmasked Cheaters”. This special investigation show was shot after a 4 month study into the online Texas Hold’em business and exclusively a cheating scandal with the online Texas Hold’em poker website Absolute Poker.
This Texas Hold’em poker room was probed after a number of the Texas Hold’em players on the page claimed that a poker player was unlawfully winning a huge amount of poker hands. Todd Witteles was a crucial witness in this investigation, according to Witteles; he was losing incredibly large amounts of poker chips to the exact same Texas Hold’em player. Witteles stated that this poker player was raising against very good cards, anyone would have assumed he was basically giving his money to the other players, but he was in reality winning quite often.
Witteles was correct about his theories, it was later uncovered that a poker player who knew about the site was able to watch anyone’s hole cards. At first look, Absolute Poker proclaimed that there were no faults with the room or the Texas Hold’em poker competitor. After several players came forward with charges of fraud, the Texas Hold’em poker website explored deeper into the matter and discovered the cheater.
Around January of 2008, the gaming commission came across what the Texas Hold’em players and the poker site had assumed all along. It was eventually shown that, there was a staff member who had broken through the Texas Hold’em webpage’s protection and was playing poker unlawfully for close to six weeks. The investigation established that the Texas Hold’em poker page had not profited from the unlawful activities by any means, and was in no way engaged in the activities.
These crimes are further evidence that there must be more guidelines regarding online poker pages. The U.S. government should license and control the internet Texas Hold’em poker industry to defend these decent customers. These rules would also regulate the access to these webpages by kids, which tends to be another fear these days.
